After learning we do NOT have asbestos, we got back to pulling-up the green linoleum floors.
This is the kitchen we purchased with our house. Notice its meh floor:
David and I traveled to Jaco, Costa Rica, for a quick get-away at the end of June. We are lucky that we live super close to Hobby airport- home of cheap Southwest flights. I was able to snag a “wanna getaway” deal to San Jose, Costa Rica, for $150 pp round-trip. Neither of us could take a lot of time off of work, so it was a quick trip. Too quick. I knew we would only have three fully days when I booked it. But three days was not enough. Everything was so pretty! I needed more time to explore and soak it all in.
My friend, Charles, recently bought a piece of property in the up-and-coming East End of Austin, TX. He was working with an budding architect and designing two townhouses to place on the property, and he asked me to assist him with this project. Read more
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! David and I randomly stopped by the DAV Thrift Store on Griggs Rd the other day and, man-oh-man, did we score big! This place was definitely off the beaten path and had a distinct granny’s house basement smell. However, the goods were good! Many vintage pieces at great prices. Here’s a list of the items I got. Swear I don’t have a problem:
8 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday, I am a professional Event Planner. One of my job perks is that I get to scope out new and exciting spaces for events. I am 1 of 2 people who plan these retreats. This year I was sent to visit Colorado Springs, CO and review The Broadmoor for our upcoming Partner Retreat. Read more
It’s officially spring here in Houston, and that means we will be spending a lot of time outdoors. However, our backyard is a little sad and unwelcoming. It’s not my favorite place to spend time. I’ve been on a mission to make our backyard space clean, inviting, and most of all- fun. I want people to step into the yard and feel like they’re in a cool, artsy, relaxed, party zone. I want it to be full of bright colors and prints and planties. I want it to be like Axelrad meets the spray paint murals of Eado meets cooky backyard: Read more
I’ve always wanted to build my own dinner table. To me, the dinner table is the most intimate and symbolic part of a home. I’ve got a few buddies that have built their own – one guy did it out of new materials, and the other did it using 100-year-old wood from the ACU Ag barn. Both tables give their houses a warm and alive feel- both were made with their own two hands for their own little families.
So given that build up of inner mushiness about handmade dinner tables, I jumped on the idea when Dana pitched it. Read more
After months of praying and writing to local government folks and H-E-B, a brand-stink’n-new grocery store is scheduled to be built in my neighborhood! I can’t even tell you how much of a BFD this is for us Trey dwellers. Currently the Third Ward is considered a “food desert.” Yes, that’s a thing.
On-Suite sounds so fancy, huh? Read more
