As I mentioned in my previous post, David and I are having a little girl!
I’m due May 27th, and I’ve been working away at creating a sweet little nursery for her.
We had a lot to do in order to get a nursery up and running. First thing we did (which is not glamorous at all) was fix the wall around the windows that was destroyed by termites. I mean, we can’t have our sweet little babe sleeping in the same room as that icky termite wall!
Once we got that out of the way and fixed-up properly, the room transformation really began. We cleared out all the stuff in the spare bedroom/storage room. Including the beloved gallery wall above our DIY door daybed:
We did keep the daybed though! We ended up moving it to the opposite wall (featured in the next photo below) and giving it new, girlie bedding. We wanted to keep it in the room for napping and guest needs.
Next we cleared out all the storage/junk items we had in the room, too:
And then David got to painting the walls! We painted the room the same color as most of the house- Dolphin Fin Grey from Behr.
I don’t know why, but I knew I wanted to make the nursery floral-ie and blush toned. I got to looking around on Pinterest to gather inspiration and here’s what I found:
LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.
So with that direction in my mind, I got to work! Slowly, over the next couple of months, we started purchasing items and putting the room together. Here’s what we ended up with:
- Crib – Amazon
- Fuzzy stool – a garage sale DIY job from muah
- Rug – Wayfair
- Rocker/Recliner – Target
- Dresser/Changing Station – Ikea (we replaced its standard knobs with pretty ones from Anthropologie)
- Daybed pillows – Ikea and Home Goods
- Tapestry – Society 6
- Other accessories (including mirror) – I already had around the house or I picked up at Home Goods
- Blush curtains – Home Goods
Here is the room in progress:
Come back in a week or two to see the finished room photos! I can’t wait to share them with you guys. XOXO, Dana
