Wow! Life is so different now that baby Dylan has entered our world. Our home and routines have changed drastically over the past six weeks. It seems like she grows leaps and bounds each day. She’s no longer a little helpless nugget. She’s more of a little mini person with the beginnings of a spunky personality starting to show. We took some photos of us around the house yesterday.
We found it easiest to set up a mini nursery of sorts downstairs. I found that I spend most of my days downstairs in the living room with her.
We ended up moving the rocking chair from the upstairs nursery into the living room. It just made more sense to have it down here because I can watch TV while she nurses and naps on me. Good thing we ordered it in a color what works in both rooms! Here is our current living room situation:
I recommend getting a burp cloth loaded on the chair, having a heating pad ready (your back will H.U.R.T) and having lots of pillows nearby to prop the baby and/or your elbow on. I also recommend surrounding yourself with tables to place your essentials on. Sometimes you get “trapped” under the sleeping baby, so I recommend having the remote, your phone, a good book, snacks, etc. set-up on the nearby tables.
I also recommend getting a pack-n-play that has a bassinet/bouncer and changing table bundled in it. We use this thing ALL.THE.TIME. It has become baby headquarters. We also placed a diaper genie and a wipe warmer down here.
The pack and play is awesome because it stores all the baby essentials. We have a pile of washed clothes, swaddles, and diaper things readily available. Plus baby girl loves it.
Doggo is still adjusting to the baby life. He ranges from over it to super interested.
Let’s move upstairs, shall we?
The baby is too young to really use this room. For now, we mainly use it for late night diaper changes, walking around, and cuddling.
The daybed has come in handy for napping, feeding, and hosting guests.
