Here’s an easy family Halloween costume idea for any size family. We chose to be “farmers” this year and the possibilities were endless. My 2.5 year old was really into the idea of dad being Old MacDonald himself. I DIY’d everyone’s costume except for my little girl. Hers was purchased from Carters. Although, Amazon has a similar one:
As I said, choosing a farm theme really opens up the possibilities of kid costumes- they could be any farm animal. A little piggie (see example below), a cow, a horse, a chicken, etc. Carters, Amazon, Target and Halloween shops usually have an abundance of cute animal costumes. And if not, those sorts are pretty easy to DIY.
If you don’t want to be animal farmers (?) you could go with a veggie theme instead. We ended up doing a combo of both. One veggie and one animal.
I DIY’d a carrot costume for my newborn and it was incredibly easy and a hit! He got lots of smiles as we trick-or-treated. All you need is an orange onesie, an orange hat, and some green tissue paper. All of which are easy to order on Amazon, or you likely have already at home, like we did.
If you’re not diggign the carrot costume, you could easily make a green pea costume by sticking three green felt circles down the front of a green onsie. Or you could purchase a yellow onsie and a yellow hat and green tissue paper and create a baby corn cob!
For myself and my husband- I thrifted some old flannel shirts, straw hats, and overalls. If you can’t find at a Goodwill, I suggest searching eBay or other resell sites.
Hope this inspired you! Send my comments and/or pictures if you end up getting inspired by this easy family costume idea! Happy Halloween!
